This website
This site uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and no third-party marketing scripts. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may set strictly necessary security cookies to protect against abuse, and processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver pages. The live 3D demo page loads the open-source three.js library from unpkg.com, a public code delivery network, which receives your IP address and browser details to send it. The demo itself uses sample data built into the page and sends nothing to us.
Purchases
Orders are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. They collect your name, email, billing address and payment details under their own privacy policy. We receive your order details (such as name, email, order number and what you bought). We never see your full card number.
License activation and updates
When you activate or check your license, the software sends your license key and a label for that computer (its computer name, operating system, a short machine ID, your copy's order mark, and the version and date of the license terms you accepted) to Lemon Squeezy's license service. We can see these activations so we can help you move a license between computers and stop misuse.
When you download the software or check for updates, your license key is sent to our download server (run on
Cloudflare) to confirm it with Lemon Squeezy. The program also checks for a newer version on its own, at most once a
day when it starts, the same way (set TS_UPDATE_CHECK=0 to turn that off; see the user guide). The key
itself is never stored or logged by our server.
For each download we keep a private record of the order number, date and time, version, IP address, approximate location (country and region) and browser type, for 2 years. We use it only to confirm delivery if a payment is disputed, to limit how often one license can be downloaded per day, and to investigate shared or leaked copies.
Bug reports, suggestions and error reports
When you send a message from the program's Help & Feedback page, it goes through our download server to a private channel on Discord (a third-party messaging service, under its own privacy policy) that only we can read, together with your order number, your purchase email, the program version and your operating system. If you tick "attach diagnostic info", it also includes the program's recent error lines.
Automatic error reports (a short note when the program crashes, with the last lines of its output) are sent only if you turn them on; they are off until you choose. You can switch them off any time on the Help & Feedback page.
Before anything is sent, the program removes keys, passwords, tokens, email addresses and your computer user name. Error lines can still include strategy names, symbols, order sizes and results; you see what will be sent before you send it. We use these messages only to fix problems and improve the product, and delete them 12 months after the issue is closed.
If you request a Custom City, we keep your request email and reference pictures until the city is delivered and for 90 days after, then delete them.
Services you choose to connect
If you connect optional services, the software sends data directly from your computer to them under their own privacy policies, not through us: Alpaca (trading and market data, using your own keys), Discord or ntfy (only if you turn on alerts), and Anthropic, only if you use the optional "Ask the Agents" page. That page is off until you turn it on and add your own Anthropic API key. Then each question you ask is sent from your computer to Anthropic's Claude service together with a snapshot of the software's current state and recent logs, which can include your positions, orders, results and settings. Anthropic processes it under its own privacy policy and the API terms you accepted when you created your key, and the answers come from a generative AI model. We never see these requests or answers.
Connections the software makes on its own
To work, the software also contacts a few public services directly from your computer. None of them receives your keys, trades, account data or settings, and we do not receive what they log. Like any website request, each one sees your IP address and basic program or browser details, under its own privacy policy:
- Cboe (and Yahoo Finance if Cboe can't be reached): the VIX volatility index, read by the Market Brain;
- Yahoo Finance: daily price history for the funds the strategies use, once after each trading day's close, only if you turn on the nightly review (off unless you switch it on);
- Open-Meteo: the current weather in New York for the 3D city, using New York's coordinates only, every 10 minutes while the city page is open;
- unpkg.com: the open-source three.js library that draws the 3D city;
- Google Fonts: the typefaces of the dashboard and the 3D city;
- our website (Cloudflare): the in-app lo-fi radio in version 1.1 and later, only after you press play.
What we do not collect
The software runs on your own computer or server. Your broker and API keys, trades, account data, settings and logs stay there. We do not receive them, with one exception you control: diagnostic info you choose to attach to a bug report or crash report, described above. The ML Breakout Filter runs entirely on your computer with a model file we trained before release; it sends nothing to anyone and is not trained or updated with your data. We make no automated decisions or profiles about you.
How we use your information
- to deliver your purchase, license key and updates;
- to answer support emails;
- to confirm delivery, and to prevent and investigate license misuse;
- to meet tax, accounting and legal duties.
We do not sell your information, and we do not send you marketing email unless you ask for it.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run this business for us, each for its own part: Lemon Squeezy (orders, payments, licenses), Cloudflare (website, download server and its private log) and Discord (the private channel for support messages). We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to enforce our License Agreement, or to protect our rights, property or safety, or those of others. If you dispute a payment, we share the order record, download log entries, license activations and our emails with you with Lemon Squeezy and the bank or card network handling the dispute. If the business is sold or reorganized, the information may transfer with it under this policy.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, such as encrypted connections and access limited to us. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Where it is processed
We are in the United States, and our service providers process data in the United States and, for some of them, other countries, under their own privacy policies.
Children
Our software and site are for adults only (18 and over). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your state (for example Minnesota or California), you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to get a list of the specific companies we shared it with (currently only Lemon Squeezy, Cloudflare and Discord), and to object to or limit certain uses. We do not sell or share your personal information for targeted advertising. To use any of these rights, email us from the address you bought with; we may need to confirm it's you, and we will not treat you differently for asking. We answer within 30 days (45 days where that is the legal limit) and tell you if we need longer. If we refuse, we say why, and you can appeal by replying "appeal" to our answer: we review it within 45 days, and if you still disagree we tell you how to contact your state attorney general.
Keeping and deleting it
We keep order, license-activation and download records while your license is active (licenses don't expire) and for 7 years after a refund, a termination or your deletion request, because tax and payment-dispute rules require it. Download records are kept for 2 years, as described above. Everything else is deleted within 30 days of your request. You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information by emailing support@ascenttradingsystems.com; some records may have to be kept for legal reasons.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. If we make a material change, we'll also note it on this page for at least 30 days.
